Somerset House
The Somerset House Chapter is the newest addition to the Daughters of the British Empire in Kansas, bringing fresh energy and a spirit of inclusivity to our growing organization. We currently have around 20 members, with most living north of the river, spanning both Kansas and Missouri.

Our members range in age from their early 20s to late 80s, creating a vibrant, multigenerational community rooted in friendship, heritage, and service.
Our chapter is named after Somerset House, a historic and iconic building located on the Strand in the heart of London. Originally built in the 16th century, Somerset House has served many roles throughout British history—from a royal palace and residence for queens, to a center for the arts, public service, and learning. Today, it remains a powerful symbol of culture, legacy, and connection—values that reflect the spirit of our chapter.

We meet on the third Thursday evening of each month, gathering for fellowship, discussion, and to plan our charitable efforts. Our meetings are warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter and purpose.

Each spring, we proudly co-host a fundraising tea with our friends in the Lady Nancy Astor Chapter. Together, we raise money for Cantata/ The British Home as well as local causes that serve our community.

As the newest chapter, we cherish the opportunity to contribute to the legacy of the DBE while creating our own traditions along the way. Whether you're drawn by heritage, a love of British or Commonwealth culture, or a desire to give back to your community, we invite you to join us and become part of something meaningful.
