DBE Summer Tea
"Flowers, Fans & Flirting"
A fun time was had by all the attendees of the Summer Tea "Flowers, Fans, & Flirting" on June 29th! The Tea was hosted by the Somerset House Chapter and the Lady Nancy Astor Chapter. A wonderful and informative talk was given by Alisha Moore Cole on secret Victorian communications through kinds of flowers, calling cards, and fans. Who knew there were so many ways to flirt with or push away suiters in those days?
The Tea itself was a delicious array of finger sandwiches, sausage rolls, and scones served with wonderful homemade lemon curd. The desserts were equally delightful! No one left hungry and thanks to the wonderful hosts' a tea cup was never empty.
Other fun activities include a hat contest and a Victorian costume contest! Many winners were acknowledged and able to select prizes. 4 lovely raffle baskets were given away to lucky winners as well! Guests were also able to purchase British collectibles, beautiful bouquets, yummy treats, and more at the booths provided by both chapters hosting which added to the delights of the day!
